Summary

The Prosthetist at a Martin Bionics Clinic is responsible for managing day-to-day clinical care, collaborating with staff on patient care and treatment planning, and contributing to the clinic's financial goals. They conduct comprehensive patient assessments to create individualized prosthetic treatment plans and perform procedures to deliver appropriate services, including prosthesis fabrication. The role includes ongoing patient care and evaluation to ensure optimal fit and function of the prosthesis, as well as compliance with various management policies. Additionally, the Prosthetist engages in continuous personal and professional development through education and training.

Primary Duties

  • Collaborate with physicians on patient evaluations and prosthetic treatment plans.
  • Build and maintain constructive relationships with staff, patients, referrals, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate expertise in biomechanics, gait analysis, and prosthetic componentry.
  • Assess patient needs and design prosthetic devices based on trauma, disease, or functional loss.
  • Perform measurements, castings, modifications, and prosthetic fabrication and fittings.
  • Evaluate and adjust prosthetic devices for optimal fit, function, and quality.
  • Instruct patients on prosthetic use and provide ongoing follow-up.
  • Train healthcare professionals and engage with referral sources to develop business relationships.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and collaborate with the Clinic Manager on revenue strategies.
  • Mentor residents and newly certified practitioners under the Clinic Manager's guidance.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with safety, Medicare, HIPAA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Participate in meetings and handle other duties as assigned, while adhering to ethical standards

Qualifications

  • 2 years clinical experience in Prosthetics including time spent on internship and residency required.
  • 2 years of technical experience preferred
  • Texas state O&P license required
  • ABC Certified Prosthetist (CP) or Certified Prosthetist Orthotist (CPO) preferred
  • Familiarity with Martin Bionics' socket system, or other adjustable systems, preferred
